I am a Sherlock Holmes fan rather than any sort of aficionado, but I was still keen to see what Northern Stage would do with their adaptation of Hound of The Baskervilles (and I took a friend who has read all the books, so she could steer me right). In the end it was a fun production: smart enough to realise they couldn’t play such an oft-satirised story completely straight so with some humour thrown in, but also not to abandon what is a gripping, spooky story just because it lends itself to plenty of jokes. The cast of four were very good, and the design really stood out.
It’s sold out at NS but will be touring, so catch it if you can. You can read my review here.
