It’s panto season, so last night I went to review Snow White at the Customs House in South Shields. I’d heard a lot of good things about this local institution: it’s a lot cheaper than some of the other festive shows, which makes it popular with families who want to take kids without shelling out a fortune on a show they might not like. I went with my friend M, who’d been to plenty of previous shows (and since I’m not mad on panto, generally, she was also there to give a second opinion.)The show was good fun – pretty traditional in its approach, but with plenty of laughs. I was particularly taken by the design, by local company Fox and Shriek, which was inspired by couture and made me want to steal the evil queen’s outfit. You can read my full review here.
